Veteran actress Mumtaz, who has worked in 10 films with Rajesh Khanna, said that they two were ‘very close’ and even though many found Rajesh Khanna to be an introvert he was very friendly with her.

The veteran said that when they met in Mumbai last month they discusses about their respective cancer battles.

“He told me that I am a strong person, and that he knew what I had gone through, the chemotherapy sessions. He said he did not feel hungry, and we joked that when lots of food was ordered for him, it was later enjoyed by all, except him,” she said to PTI.

The actress, who has worked with Rajesh Khanna in movies like 'Aap Ki Kasam', 'Roti', 'Apna Desh' and 'Sachcha Jhootha', said that she always had a great time working with him.

The actress remembered the time Rajesh Khanna carried her for a whole week while shooting for ‘Roti’ movie.

“It was hard work for him, carrying me through snow. I used to joke when we started shooting every day of that week that now you will have to carry 100 kg sack on your shoulders, and he would say that I was not that heavy. But I was never a slim girl,” she concluded.

Rajesh Khanna, who has acted in movies like ‘Aradhana’, ‘Anand’, ‘Kati Patang’, and ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, passed away on Wednesday after suffering from prolonged liver infection. He was 69.

He is survived by his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and his two daughters Twinkle Khanna and Rinkie Khanna.
