Casting of Prachi Desai opposite Sanjay Dutt in 'Thanedar Returns' to be justified

Actress Prachi Desai, who is just 24 years old, has been cast opposite 53 year old Sanjay Dutt in ‘Thanedar Returns’, which is a sequel to 1990 movie ‘Thanedar’ that starred Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit and remake of Tamil movie ‘Saamy’.

The makers of the movie now have a major problem on their hands as the age difference between Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai is too huge and the makers are thinking of changing the story line to justify the age gap.

“In the original Tamil filmSaamyVikram and Trisha, who are separated by about 10 years, played the lead. Here there's an age difference of almost 30 years between them,” said a source close to the production house to a daily.

The producer of the movie T.P. Aggarwal confirmed that they were planning on changing the plot of the movie to justify the gap.

“Yes, we've justified the age difference between Dutt saab and Prachi in the remake's script. If you see them together they don't look mismatched in spite of the age-difference,” he said.

Actress Prachi Desai though is unfazed by the age difference and is glad to have the opportunity to work opposite Sanjay Dutt.

“When you see the film you won't complain. Younger girls getting paired with older guys is nothing new in our cinema. My best pairing when I was doing television was with an older guy and the feedback was stupendous. The audience loves younger girls being paired with the older man. Even in ‘Rock On’ and ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaaimy co-stars Farhan Akhtar and Emraan Hashmi respectively were not of my age. And that's okay. I am playing a character,” the actress said.
