Social worker Ravindra Brahme has lodged a case against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for disrespecting the national flag during the victory celebrations of Indian winning the World Cup on April 2, 2011.
Brahme said that he and his colleagues have decided to start a moment where action will be taken against everyone, regardless of stature, who disrespects the National Flag.
“We have decided to start a movement against people who show disrespect to the Indian flag and if we find such people, we will start registering complaints against them without thinking of their stature,” he said to Midday in an interview.
He said that while browsing the internet he came across a picture where Shah Rukh Khan was holding the flag upside down.
“In SRK’s case, I was surfing the net and on one website I found some pictures in which he was waving the Indian flag in Mumbai after India won the cricket World Cup on April 2, 2011. While waving the flag, he ignored the fact that saffron color was at the bottom and the green color was on top,” he said.
“If he indulged in such acts, the youth will also emulate him,” he added.
The social worker said that he had filed a case against Shah Rukh Khan with the Chatushringi police station.
“I have registered a case against Khan with the Chatushringi police station and the case has been transferred to the Bandra police station in Mumbai, where Khan resides,” said Brahme.
Police Inspector (Crime) Subhash Nikam of the Chatushringi police station confirmed the news and said, “We have registered the case against Shah Rukh Khan under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Insult to National Honor (Amendment) Act on August 14 after Brahme approached us. Since the incident had taken place in Mumbai, the case has been transferred to the Bandra police station and the police there will be investigating the matter further.”
Previously Brahme had filed a complaint against model Gehna Vashist at the Deccan Gymkhana police station for dishonoring the Tricolor by using it as a bikini in a photo shoot in Mumbai. She was arrested by officials of the Deccan Gymkhana police station on Saturday.
