Reports have been rife that Bipasha Basu’s character in Vikram Bhatt’s upcoming movie ‘Raaz 3’ is based on Vikram Bhatt ex-girlfriend and actress Ameesha Patel.

But the director Vikram Bhatt in an interview with HT recently denied the reports.

“The only similarity between Bipasha Basu’s character in ‘Raaz 3D’ and Ameesha is that both are actors involved with a director. The muse for Bipasha’s character could be Madhuri (Dixit), Sridevi or even Bipasha herself. If anything, being in a relationship with an actor has given me certain insights, but ‘Raaz 3D’ is not about Ameesha. After the split, we’ve had a cordial relationship and I don’t expect her to be upset,” said Vikram Bhatt.

It was rumored that one of the reasons Vikram Bhatt chose to end the relationship with Ameesha Patel was because the actress tried to manipulate the director to get her roles in movies.

“No. That’s been misconstrued. We were both going through a bad time, with my films flopping and she unable to repeat the success of ‘Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’ (2000),” he said.

In the movie Bipasha Basu plays an actress going through a turbulent time. Esha Gupta plays a young actress who is at her peak and has replaced Bipasha Basu as a top actress, while Emraan Hashmi plays a director. Bipasha Basu is so desperate to regain her lost popularity that she turns to black magic to sabotage Esha Gupta’s career and win back her love Emraan Hashmi.

When asked whether the director himself had turned to black magic at any point in his career, he said, “Never, nor have I seen anyone sticking pins into a voodoo doll. But I believe in God, and where there’s light, there has to be darkness too. Before 1920 (2008), I was having problems and was told by a ‘baba’ that someone was working against me and I knew the person he described. “

Vikram Bhatt’s last directorial venture ‘Dangerous Ishq’ sank at the box-office without a trace even though it was hugely promoted and the anticipation was high as the movie marked the comeback of actress Karisma Kapoor.

“The story was the selling point of Dangerous Ishq, not Karisma’s comeback. But everyone wanted to talk about her marriage and kids. It’s unfortunate that the film became more about her personal life than her performance,” he concluded.

‘Raaz 3’ is all set to hit theaters on September 7.
