With Arjun Rampal walking out of ‘Zanjeer’ remake due to date problems, the director of the movie Apoorva Lakhia has decided to go back to one of the first contenders Sonu Sood to play the iconic role of Sher Khan.

Sonu Sood was considered to play Sher Khan initially but the makers in the end decided to go with Arjun Rampal. But now with Arjun Rampal walking out of the movie, the makers have gone back to their original choice.

“Yes I have been approached for the role of Sher Khan. But nothing has been finalized yet. I have not confirmed the project on paper yet,” said Sonu Sood to a daily.

In the original ‘Zanjeer’ Sher Khan was played by actor Pran. Till date Sher Khan remains one of the best Bollywood villains and also Pran’s best performance.

The remake stars South superstar Ram Charan Teja as Vijay, the role which was played by Amitabh Bachchan in the original. Priyanka Chopra will play Mala, originally played by Jaya Bachchan.

The movie also features South superstar Prakash Raj and Mahi Gill in pivotal roles.

The movie is produced by Amit Mehra, son of Prakash Mehra, who directed and produced the original ‘Zanjeer’.

The shooting of the movie began in April this year.
