Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who has given Indian music few of its most of memorable songs, turns 83 today.
The songstress said that she plans on keeping her birthday a quiet and mellow affair, away from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai.
“I don't believe in birthday celebrations. Like every year, I will be out of the town. I will leave Mumbai a day before my birthday,” said Lataji.
Queen of melody, who ruled Bollywood for over seven decades, revealed that the reason behind her not singing these days is because she doesn’t identify with the current music trend.
“Change is inevitable in this world. The era between 1947 to 1995 in film industry was different. I was part of this era. I don't relate to the present era and this is natural. I have nothing against it. Everything has changed, the films, the actors and the music,” she revealed to PTI.
“I still sing but only those songs that I like. The only difference is that I will not sing something that I don't like,” she added.
Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded Bharat Ratna for her contributions to Indian music.
We wish Lataji a very Happy Birthday!
