Few days ago it was reported that Ali Abbas Zafar was keen on having Katrina Kaif as the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in his upcoming movie ‘Gunday’.

But the report seems to be false as its not Katrina Kaif but Priyanka Chopra who will be starring in the movie.

According to sources, after watching Priyanka Chopra’s performance in ‘Barfi’ the makers of ‘Gunday’ felt that Priyanka Chopra would suit the role better as the role is performance oriented.

“The lead female role is rather challenging and performance based. And the makers thought that Priyanka would fit the bill better,” said a source to a daily.

The movie ‘Gunday’ is produced by Yash Raj Films. This will be Priyanka Chopra’s second film with YRF production house after her 2010 debacle ‘Pyar Impossible’.

This will be actress’s first movie with ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ director Ali Abbas Zafar and actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor.

‘Gunday’ is set in the era of 1970’s, the most turbulent times in Kolkata. Ranveer and Arjun will be seen as powerful black marketing mafia. They play Bikram and Bala respectively. The film traces the journey of these two small time wagon breakers and coal thieves who become mafia leaders.
