Yash Chopra’s chautha ceremony held on Thursday evening saw a huge turnout. Everyone from Bollywood showed up to pay their tribute to the legendary filmmaker. Even wheel-chair bound Shashi Kapoor turned up for the function.

Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher spoke a few words paying tribute to late Yashji.

“Yashji would call me up everyday, just to tell me that he loves me. I still scroll down my contacts to see his name stored. I hope to get a call from that number,” said Karan Johar moving everyone present at the function to tears reports a popular daily.

“He would make abrupt calls and say, 'Main Yash bol raha hoon, tumko milna hai, aa jao'. He would hang up even before you could reply. His death was as abrupt as his phone call. Parathas (that he loved so much) would never be as tasty, women never as gorgeous in chiffon saris, post his death,” said Shah Rukh Khan.

“He would sing any song like a bhajan, but would love singing. We ate together almost thrice a week. We had a common liking for food,” Anupam Kher said.

Amitabh Bachchan narrated a few lines from his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poetry — "Jo beet gayi so baat gayi... Jo chhoot gaye, phir kahan miley."

"He never raised his voice," Amitabh Bachchan concluded.
