Versatile Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan is considered one of the best actors in India. The actor though as has varied roles he has been very cautious when it comes to romantic roles.

“I love to romance on screen. I did ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ and ‘Maqbool’. I love to do romantic roles but I need to get a script which convinces me. I can't fake myself in romance,” said Irrfan Khan to IANS.

Irrfan Khan is also one of the very few Bollywood actors who have carved a niche for themselves in Hollywood. The actor, who has already been a part of Hollywood movies like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘A Mighty Heart’ and the more recent ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, will be seen in Ang Lee’s movie adaptation of the Man Booker prize award winning novel ‘Life of Pi’ by Yann Martel.

In the movie ‘Life of Pi’ Irrfan Khan plays the role of adult Pi. The actor said that he has played the role according to the director’s vision rather than the author’s.

“That was Yann's version and this is Ang's version. I was only concerned about Ang's version. This is cinema and that was book. I have to understand what Pi is from Ang's vision as he is telling the story and I am part of that. I am not part of Yann's part of the story,” said Irrfan Khan.

‘Life of Pi’ is a story about a boy named Pi, who is the sole survivor of a sinking cargo ship, finds himself in the company of a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Bengal tiger on a lifeboat.

Irrfan Khan said that the movie was difficult to shoot given that the Tiger plays a major role.

“This subject is very tough to be converted into film. It deals with so many issues. It's almost impossible to shoot a tiger, boy and a boat in sea, it's an immense challenge,” said Irrfan Khan.

Though the actor has been a part of 3D movie ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, Irrfan Khan said that ‘Life of Pi’ has ‘never-seen-before’ 3D effects.

“This is one of the films where you can see never-seen-before 3D in your life. 3D is a new medium and it needs exploration. Ang has taken 3D to the next level. I am just not talking about the effects; he has used 3D in a very poetic way. He has used it delicate,” said the actor.

‘Life of Pi’ that also stars Tabu will release on November 23.
