I like to have a quiet birthday: John Abraham

Bollywood actor John Abraham, who turns 40 today, said that he likes having a quiet birthday and blowing candles and singing ‘Happy Birthday’ embarrasses him.

“I like to have a quiet birthday. I don't really like blowing candles or listening to the birthday song. It embarrasses me! My family too steers clear of big celebrations,” said John Abraham to Mid-Day in an interview.

The actor revealed for every birthday his parents gift him an envelope with money inside.

“The amount however keeps increasing with every year. 2012 has been good and I hope to have a fantastic year ahead,” said John.

With three action movies of his releasing next year, John Abraham hopes that 2013 will establish him as one of the leading action hero’s in Bollywood.

The actor said that his role as dreaded gangster Manya Surve in Sanjay Gupta's ‘Shootout at Wadala’ will be a game changer for him.

“We really did not have any super-hero earlier and Gupta's film will be a real game changer for me. He told me that I am the original raw action hero and it was a great compliment for me,” he said.

“My portrayal of Surve will shock everyone. The entire credit goes to Gupta and Ekta Kapoor who is known for her marketing techniques,” concluded John Abraham.

The movie ‘Shootout at Wadala’ also stars Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Sonu Sood, Manoj Bajpai and Tusshar Kapoor. The movie will release on May 1, 2013.
