Anupam Kapoor, who recently gave up a chance to walk on red carpet along with his ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’ co-stars at Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, wont be repeating the same with Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards.
The actor has already flown to LA to attend Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards, which is scheduled to take place on January 27.
Anupam Kher along with Bradley Copper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Chris Tucker and Jacki Weaver has been nominated for Best ensemble cast at SAG.
Anupam Kher is very excited about the nomination.
“I am very excited to be part of an ensemble cast and very proud of the film. On January 27, 500-600 of the world's best actors will all be under one roof at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, and I will be sitting on the best table with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Tucker, Jackie Weaver...That itself is a great feeling. As an actor, it is most gratifying to be recognized by one's peers. Hence this nomination is a high point for me,” said Anupam Kher to a daily.
The actor said that he hoped to win the award but even if he doesn’t win its ok as he had an opportunity to work with fabulous actors.
“I am hopeful that we will get the award but even if we don't get it, I am very excited to just be nominated as it means a big recognition for me. It means I've earned the respect of many within Hollywood. The fact that I get a mail from Robert De Niro makes me feel very happy. How many people in this country or the world get mail from him? People like him and Bradley call me their friend and that is the biggest achievement,” he said.
“To me, being able to share that room with some of the finest actors on earth is more than enough. Moreover, I'm glad that I'm appreciated for my work in the film,” he added.
The actor, who worked alongside Robert De Niro for the first time, said working with Robert De Niro a dream-come-true.
“If you meet your favorite writer, wouldn't you be excited? On top of that, if he asks you to write a piece along with him, wouldn't you be doubly excited? The same thing happened with him. I've always been in awe of his performance, be it in Raging Bull or Cape Fear,” said Anupam Kher.
Though Anupam Kapoor has been a part of many Hollywood projects before, this is the first time that his movie has received such accolades and nominations.
The movie was one of the most nominated movies at the 85th Academy Awards with 8 nominations.
The movie bagged eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Director (David O. Russell), Best Actor (Bradley Cooper), Best Actress (Jennifer Lawrence), Best Supporting Actor (Robert De Niro), Best Supporting Actress (Jacki Weaver), Best Adapted Screenplay (David O. Russell) and Best Film Editing (Jay Cassidy and Crispin Struthers).
Anupam Kher plays the role of Dr. Patel in the film.
