Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has been named as India’s Prime Icon by Big CBS Prime's show ‘India's Prime Icon’.
Amitabh Bachchan, who was competing for the title with Aamir Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, AR Rahman and Narendra Modi (the Top five nominees), was crowned as ‘India’s Prime Icon’ on Thursday.
The veteran actor was felicitated by actresses Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma.
“Honored and humbled that Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma take time out to present me India's Prime Icon of 2012 at CBS/BigFm," Amitabh Bachchan tweeted after winning the title.
“Prime Icon??!! Gosh that is far too farfetched for me ... and to have Sachin (Tendulkar), Lataji (Lata Mangeshkar), Aamir, SRK, Modi (Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi), Nitish (Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar)... as contenders," Amitabh Bachchan further wrote on his Twitter page.
Mr. Anand Chakravarthy, business head - BIG CBS, said that they couldn’t have asked for a better ‘Prime Icon’ than Amitabh Bachchan.
“We couldn't have asked for a better grand finale to the show, with the most deserving, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, being conferred the title of the India's first ever Prime Icon. Epitomizing the word Icon, we are happy that India has selected the most commendable icon," Chakravarthy said in a statement.
