Actress Vidya Balan has been sweeping awards in the Best Actress category this season for her brilliant performance in suspense thriller ‘Kahaani’ by Sujoy Ghosh.

Vidya Balan, who also won numerous Best Actress awards last year for her role as an item girl in ‘The Dirty Picture’, denied that winning awards adds an extra pressure to perform better.

“No, I treat every film differently and every performance is different for me. Though I want all of them to do well. It is like selecting your best eye. You ask yourself which one is more beautiful? I fortunately got to work with good directors and found memorable roles. It is a very special feeling to receive appreciation for what you have done and go back home with trophies in your hands,” said Vidya Balan in an interview to Mid-Day.

Actresses Sridevi for her movie ‘English Vinglish’ and Priyanka Chopra for ‘Barfi!’ have been giving Vidya Balan a tough competition for the Best Actress award. Vidya Balan said that she appreciates both Sridevi’s and Priyanka Chopra’s performances.

“I undoubtedly appreciate Sridevi’s performance. It was an honor for me to get nominated along with her. In fact I loved Priyanka Chopra too in 'Barfi!'. I think she was unbelievable in the film and I just adored her. Hope God blesses her. As far as Sridevi is concerned, I have been her fan since 'Mr. India'. She is a versatile actress. She lights up every frame with her aura. I really don't know how she manages to do that,” Vidya said.

When asked when the much eagerly anticipated sequel of ‘Kahaani 2’ would go on floors, she said, “I am really thrilled about it. We all know how the first film happened. When we started the project it was only Sujoy Ghosh (director) and I. Sujoy put together the entire crew and we looked so hard for distributors and all. It was a very different journey and overwhelming experience. He has a very diverse way of thinking. I am waiting to read the script as soon as he completes writing it.”

Recently Sujoy Ghosh said that Amitabh Bachchan would be a part of ‘Kahaani 2’.

“I am not aware if he is part of it but I really hope and wish that he is,” she said.

Vidya Balan will soon be seen in Rajkumar Gupta’s comedy movie ‘Ghanchakkar’.

Vidya Balan, who worked with Rajkumar Gupta earlier in critically acclaimed movie ‘No One Killed Jessica’, said that it was Rajkumar Gupta who convinced her to act in her first comedy movie.

“Rajkumar has proven himself in his first film itself. He is young and energetic. He convinced me that I should try comedy as a genre, as he was very confident of me pulling it off. Since I have worked with him before, I naturally share a comfort level with him. He has his own way of presenting strong female characters on screen and I like that a lot. I love his passion and the way he makes the environment light on the sets, even if he is completely charged about doing the shoot,” she said.

Vidya Balan will also be reuniting with her ‘The Dirty Picture’ co-star Emraan Hashmi in this movie.

“During our first film we barely spoke to each other as we had very few scenes together. However in the second film we got a chance to interact a lot. He doesn't talk a lot on the sets but this time it was different. He is very professional while working. Emraan has got some brilliant performance-oriented sequences in the film and he was simply remarkable,” concluded Vidya Balan.

‘Ghanchakkar’ is a comedy movie in which Vidya Balan plays a Punjabi housewife and Emraan Hashmi plays Vidya Balan’s husband and an ex-conman.

‘Ghanchakkar’ is produced by Vidya's husband Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV.

The movie will release on June 21.
