Prabhu Deva’s eagerly anticipated dance movie ‘ABCD- Anybody Can Dance’ released alongside Akshay Kumar’s ‘Special Chabbis’.
Prabhu Deva, who directed Akshay Kumar in his last movie ‘Rowdy Rathore’, said that he wanted to avoid clashing with Akshay at the box-office but the clash was inevitable.
“We were reluctant to release our film this Friday. We had planned to release it on February 1 but since it is 3D movie so there were some technical glitches and it got delayed by a week,” said Prabhu Deva.
Prabhu Deva’s last movie ‘Rowdy Rathore’ was a blockbuster hit and earned 100 Crores. But Prabhu Deva said that he doesn’t keep tabs on box-office earnings and isn’t worried about his movie ‘ABCD– Anybody Can Dance’.
“When I make a movie as a director, I don't go into the money part. I did not think about box office results while making ‘Wanted’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’ or during the ‘ABCD - Anybody Can Dance’ because it hampers your creativity," he said.
‘ABCD – Anybody Can Dance’, India’s first 3D dance movie, is a dream project of choreographer turned director Remo D’Souza. The ace choreographer said that he accepted to be a part of Remo’s movie without even reading a script.
“I used to tell him (Remo) 'you are a better director than a choreographer,” he said.
Prabhu Deva, who is often called as ‘Michael Jackson of India’, said that dance movies are disappearing from Bollywood and hoped that ‘ABCD’ can bring back the trend.
“‘ABCD- Anybody Can Dance’ will promote dance culture in Indian cinema. We have worked very hard and spend a lot of money on it. It is not just a dance film but also an emotional story," he said.
When asked about his favorite dancers in Bollywood, Prabhu said, "First is Madhuri Dixit. She is too good, that's why she is Madhuri. Hrithik is also very good. He catches dance steps very easily."
Prabhu Deva choreographed and danced alongside Madhuri Dixit in the famous song ‘Que Sera Sera’ from the movie Pukar.
Prabhu Deva choreographed Hrithik Roshan’s famous and critically acclaimed song, both for its music and choreography, ‘Main Aisa Kyun Hoon’ from the movie ‘Lakshya’ for which he won his second National Film Award for Best Choreography.
The director is all set to work with yet another good dancer Shahid Kapoor in his upcoming directorial venture ‘Rambo Rajkumar’.
“Its shooting will start from March this year,” Prabhu Deva concluded.
‘Rambo Rajkumar’ also stars Sonakshi Sinha.
