Actress Huma Qureshi, who recently replaced Kangna Ranaut in ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, said that she never dreamt that she would get an opportunity to work in the ‘Ishqiya’ sequel.
“I am glad because it will be a fantastic film. It is an Abhishek Chaubey film as well. I was so thrilled. I remember watching ‘Ishqiya’, it was amazing. I didn't even dream of the fact that I will get an opportunity to be part for the sequel. It is really amazing,” said Huma Qureshi to IANS.
Asked when she will start shooting for ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, Huma said: "There is so much of speculation going on right now; so I don't want to say anything."
‘Dedh Ishqiya’, a sequel to 2010 hit movie ‘Ishqiya’ will see Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah move from Gorakhpur (where ‘Ishqiya’ was set) to Lucknow and meet a highly cultured Muslim family that includes Madhuri Dixit and Huma Qureshi. While Naseeruddin Shah will romance Madhuri, Arshad Warsi will romance Huma Qureshi.
The movie will be directed by ‘Ishqiya’ director Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Vishal Bhardwaj.
Huma Qureshi will next be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj and Ekta Kapoor’s co-production ‘Ek Thi Daayan’.
“I think working with Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj would be on the list of every actor. I feel blessed that as a newcomer, I am working with both of them. It is really special,” said Huma.
“Vishal is really one of a kind in the country right now and Ekta has completely taken over the whole place. To be a woman and to be able to pull that off, hats off to her. She is a fantastic producer,” she added.
Huma Qureshi, who made her debut with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and is just a movie old, said that the fact that such brilliant filmmakers want to work with her is overwhelming. But she admits that there is a sense of pride, but not arrogance because there is a lot to do and a lot to learn".
“I don't have the mental capacity to do any more work. It's a good time. I am reading good scripts; people are pushing very interesting concepts and ideas. It is really overwhelming that such cool filmmakers want to work with me. Like I said, these are on the wish list of every actor. I only pray that I am able to do justice to whatever work that comes my way,” Huma Qureshi concluded.
‘Ek Thi Daayan’, directed by Kannan Iyer, stars Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin, Konkona Sen Sharma and Huma Qureshi.
The movie tells a story about a magician, played by Emraan Hashmi, and a witch. Who among the three lead actresses’ plays a witch has been kept a secret.
The movie is scheduled to release on April 18.
