For the past four years Salman Khan has ruled the box-office during Eid by releasing his movies ‘Wanted’ in 2009, ‘Bodyguard’ in 2011 and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ in 2012 on Eid day. All the three movies went on to become blockbuster hits.

But this year audience will get to see Shah Rukh Khan on Eid as Shah Rukh Khan is planning on releasing his movie ‘Chennai Express’ on Eid this year.

“Salman bhai had left his mark on the Eid date since the past three years, with ‘Wanted’, ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. This year, it could be SRK who could stake a claim to the date, which is also a holiday everywhere,” said a source to Mid-Day.

“The release date of Salman's film is not fixed yet. ‘Chennai Express’, Rohit Shetty's film with SRK will release on Eid. This time instead of Salman, it will be SRK fans rushing to the theatre on Eid,” the source added.

‘Chennai Express’ is directed by Rohit Shetty.

The movie stars Deepika Padukone, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Om Shanti Om’, as Shah Rukh Khan’s love interest.

Southern actress Priyamani has been roped in for an item number in the movie.
