Actress Katrina Kaif and ‘Aashiqui 2’ actor Aditya Roy Kapur have been signed to play lead roles in Abhishek Kapoor’s upcoming movie ‘Fitoor’.

The production house Disney UTV, who is producing the movie, announced the news earlier today.

“Abhishek Kapoor was looking for a perfect cast for his timeless love story 'Fitoor' and we're glad that he has found them in Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif," Rucha Pathak, Senior Creative Director - Studios, Disney UTV said.

Director Abhishek Kapoor is delighted to be working with a never before seen romantic pair in the movie.

“As a filmmaker, I have always invested in new and emerging talent and with his talent and persona, Aditya Roy Kapur is right up there. I am delighted to have him on board," said Abhishek Kapoor to IANS.

‘Fitoor’ is a movie adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel ‘Great Expectations’. Aditya Roy Kapur will essay the role of Pip, while Katrina Kaif will play Estella.

Previously Sridevi had been approached to play the role of Miss Havinsham but the actress turned down the role. The role is currently being cast and an announcement on the same is expected in the coming weeks.

The film will go on the floors in the first half of 2014.
