The current buzz in B-Town is that actress Deepika Padukone has chosen Karan Johar over Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Sources informed a popular daily that Deepika Padukone has decided sign Karan Johar’s ‘Shuddhi’ over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
“The dates Bhansali wanted from Deepika have been allotted to Karan Johar's Shuddhi. This is why the actress is not in a position to play Mastani in the former's film,” said a source close to the actress to Mid Day.
After working with Deepika Padukone in ‘Ram Leela’ Sanjay Leela Bhansali was very keen on working with the actress again. And Deepika Padukone had infact undergone a look test for the movie but due to her date issues, Deepika could not sign on the dotted line.
Trade reports say that Kareena Kapoor is now keen to take on the role of Mastani. However, Bhansali's office maintains that no actress as been finalized as yet.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali had announced this ambitious project way back 2002. Earlier he was keen on casting Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji in lead roles. But due to various reasons the movie never took off.
“Now there is buzz that Ajay Devgn may play Bajirao in the film and Kareena has apparently expressed her desire to play Mastani. Priyanka Chopra will play Bajirao's wife, Kashibai," said the source.
Neither Sanjay Leela Bhansali nor Deepika Padukone were available for comments.
