The release date of the eagerly anticipated biopic on Olympic medal winning boxer Mary Kom has finally been announced. Today the production house Viacom 18 Motion Pictures announced the release date.
The movie that will see Priyanka Chopra playing the boxer will release on October 2nd, on occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The biopic will be directed by Omung Kumar, the art director of 'Black' and 'Sawaariya'. He approached filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali with the idea of adapting Mary Kom’s inspiring life story into a movie. Sanjay Leela Bhansali lost no time in giving his approval for the project and decided to produce it.
Omung Kumar will be making his debut as a director with this film.
Along with this movie, the production house also announced the release date of Akshay Kumar and Shruti Haasan starrer ‘Gabbar’.
The movie directed by Krish will release on January 23, 2015, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend.
