With the movies ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Kahaani’ creating waves, the filmmakers seem to be keen on cashing in on the current trend of women-centric films.
It was recently reported that as soon as Madhur Bhandarkar completes his movie ‘Heroine’ with Kareena Kapoor, he will start working on the sequel of his hit movie ‘Fashion’, starring Priyanka Chopra.
“I am not really aware of any such sequel. Fashion is a film that is closest my heart and if Madhur plans a part two, why not? I would love to be a part of the sequel,” said Priyanka Chopra.
Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’ was one of the first women-centric films in Bollywood.
“I completely agree that the wave was started by Fashion. Now there are many more women-oriented films or subjects. I believe it’s the best time to be an actress in our industry. Today, I am getting more women-centric scripts,” said the actress.
The movie not only earned Priyanka Chopra her first National Award for Best Actress but also earned her co-star Kangna Ranaut National Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film also marked the debut of actress Mugdha Godse.
Both Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV’s head honcho Ronnie Screwvala are keen on making ‘Fashion’ sequel, as the original was a blockbuster hit.
Recently, it was reported that Madhur Bhandarkar had a close door meeting with none other than Madhuri Dixit Nene regarding the project. But neither Madhur Bhandarkar nor Madhuri Dixit has confirmed the meeting.
