Bollywood is currently exploring the trend of making sequels if the first movie goes on to become a blockbuster hit. With movies like ‘Golmaal’ and ‘Housefull 2’ having successful sequels, more and more directors are opening up to the concept of making sequels.
Currently the sequel for 2010 biggest hit ‘Dabangg’ is in making. Sujoy Ghosh, who recently delivered a mind blowing hit with ‘Kahaani’, is planning on working on a sequel. Other of Vidya Balan’s movie ‘Ishqiya’ too will have a sequel ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, though sans Vidya Balan but will have Madhuri Dixit in the lead.
But director Prabhu Deva, whose movie ‘Rowdy Rathore’ is still going strong, is planning on making a prequel of the movie.
If the sources are to be believed then the announcement regarding ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’ will be made this weekend.
“The party is being held this Friday and the prequel will most probably be announced there,” said a source to DNA.
The movie is Akshay Kumar’s biggest opening ever as it has collected Rs. 15.10 Crore on the opening day itself. By the end of its first week the movie ended up collecting Rs. 48 Crores.
This is both Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha’s second movie to enter the 100 Crores club. Previously Akshay Kumar’s ‘Housefull 2’ collected over 100 Crores, while Sonakshi Sinha’s debut movie ‘Dabangg’ itself was a 100 Crore movie.
