Sonakshi was my first and last choice for 'Himmatwala' song: Sajid Khan

After the song ‘Go Go Govinda’, actress Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in her second item number in Sajid Khan’s upcoming movie ‘Himmatwala’.

During the launch of the song, director Sajid Khan said that if Sonakshi Sinha hadn’t agreed to be a part of the song he wouldn’t have made the song at all.

“Sonakshi was my first and last choice for the song. I had decided that if she doesn't say yes, I'll drop the song,” said Sajid Khan.

‘Thank God It’s Friday’ is a peppy retro number. Sonakshi Sinha as donned two looks in the song. The first one has been inspired from Parveen Babi's look in ‘Shaan’ and the second one is similar to Sridevi from ‘Chaalbaaz’.

“The first outfit has been taken from what Parveen Babi wore in ‘Shaan’, but we have changed it a bit. The next one is from Sridevi's look in her film ‘Chaalbaaz’,” said Sonakshi Sinha.

The actress said that for her to a be a part of item song, there must be something special in it and ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ has that special something.

“I like dancing but the song has to be special for me to be a part of it. Even ‘Go Go Govinda’ had something special and so does ‘Thank God It’s Friday’," she said.

Sonakshi Sinha also said that she dint have to put in much preparation for the song.

“I just reached the sets. I did not do any kind of preparation. I have seen these songs before. People say I have the old world charm and I used that,” she concluded.

‘Himmatwala’ is a remake of 1983 Hindi movie of same name that starred Jeetendra and Sridevi. The 1983 version itself was a remake of Telugu movie ‘Ooriki Monagadu’, starring Krishna and Jayapradha.

2013 ‘Himmatwala’ stars Ajay Devgn and South Indian actress Tamannaah. It also stars Paresh Rawal, Adhayayan Suman and Mahesh Manjrekar.

The movie will release on March 29.
