Has Karan Johar approached Aamir Khan for 'Shuddhi'?

If the sources are to be believed then filmmaker Karan Johar has approached Aamir Khan to star in his upcoming home production ‘Shuddhi’.

Initially ‘Shuddhi’ was announced with Hrithik Roshan playing the male lead. But later the actor walked out of the movie due to date issues.

Later reports emerged that Shah Rukh Khan was approached for the role followed by Ranveer Singh. Now the insiders say that Karan Johar has approached none other than Aamir Khan.

“Karan is still trying to lock the lead for his film and has recently shared the script of Shuddhi with Aamir, but nothing has been finalized yet. Aamir has asked Karan to give him time to go through the script,” said a source to Mid-Day.

But while Karan Johar remained unavailable for comments, Aamir Khan’s spokesperson went on to deny the news.

I am excited about working with Salman Khan again: Sonam Kapoor

Actress Sonam Kapoor, who has been signed to play the female lead opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's upcoming movie ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, said that she is looking forward to working with Salman Khan after working together in ‘Saawariya’.

“I am not nervous, I am very much excited about it. I am looking forward to working with Salman. I have got an amazing role in the film. It was the easiest decision that I took in my career. I wanted to work with Sooraj Barjatya, I have seen all his films several times," Sonam told PTI.

"I wanted the green outfit that Madhuri Dixit wore in 'Didi Tera Dewar Deewana' from 'Hum Aapke Hai Kaun'. It is a beautiful romantic film," she added.

Though Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor have been in touch with each other after working together he hasn’t seen any of Sonam Kapoor’s movies.

Abhishek Kapoor to direct ‘Mahabharata’ movie

Recently, Disney India announced ambitious project of adapting the Indian mythological epic ‘Mahabharata’ on big screen. They said that they were gearing up to recreate the magic of this remarkable story in live action at a scale never seen before in Indian cinema, which will be directed by Kapoor and written by renowned author Ashok Banker.

“Indian mythology has a great wealth of stories which have inspired legions of creative minds and The Mahabharata unarguably is the most ambitious and encompassing. We believe this epic which has engaged generations of Indians will translate into a magnificent silver screen saga," Siddharth Roy Kapur, managing director of Disney India, said.

Director Abhishek Kapoor, who won critical and commercial success with his last movie ‘Kai Po Che!’ is excited to helm this ambitious and epic scale movie.

Deepika Padukone choses Karan Johar over Sanjay Leela Bhansali

The current buzz in B-Town is that actress Deepika Padukone has chosen Karan Johar over Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Sources informed a popular daily that Deepika Padukone has decided sign Karan Johar’s ‘Shuddhi’ over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

“The dates Bhansali wanted from Deepika have been allotted to Karan Johar's Shuddhi. This is why the actress is not in a position to play Mastani in the former's film,” said a source close to the actress to Mid Day.

After working with Deepika Padukone in ‘Ram Leela’ Sanjay Leela Bhansali was very keen on working with the actress again. And Deepika Padukone had infact undergone a look test for the movie but due to her date issues, Deepika could not sign on the dotted line.

Is Vidya Balan pregnant???

Ever since Vidya Balan was spotted at Mumbai’s Seven Hills Hospital rumors have been rife that the actress has been visited by the stork. Added to this the actress has been spotted many times in recent past wearing loose clothing.

But the actress had denied the rumors during the promotion of her recent release ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effect’.

“I'm not pregnant. I'd have to meet Siddharth to get pregnant! Jokes apart, I'm not yet ready to share Siddharth. Besides, I'm committed through this year, so motherhood will have to wait,” the actress said.

But given the recent events and the fact that Vidya Balan has walked out of two films – ‘Kahaani’ director Sujoy Ghosh's ‘Durga Rani Singh’ and Mohit Suri's ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahaani’ – has the sourcing insisting that the actress is pregnant.

Madhur Bhandarkar to work with Priyanka Chopra in 'Madamji'

After delivering a critically and commercially successful movie ‘Fashion’, the director-actress duo of Madhur Bhandarkar and Priyanka Chopra are collaborating yet again for the movie ‘Madamji’.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who is currently working out dates with the actress, laments that post the 2008 he couldn't work with her because of a lack of a "great subject".

“Priyanka (Chopra) and I have been discussing the script. Priyanka is very excited about the subject of ‘Madamji’. The film's subject is extraordinary. We always wanted to work together post 'Fashion', unfortunately we never came across a great subject," the filmmaker told reporters.

I said yes to 'Bobby Jasoos' immediately: Vidya Balan

Actress Vidya Balan, who will next be seen in ‘Bobby Jasoos’ as a female detective, said that she said yes to the movie as soon as she read the script because she found the idea of a female detective in Hindi cinema new and interesting.

“I never imagined that someone will make a film about a female detective. It was an exciting idea and I connected to the story instinctively. It is the least time I have ever taken to say yes to a story,” said Vidya Balan to PTI.

The spy thriller genre is generally dominated by males in both Bollywood and Hollywood with females generally serving the purpose of either a damsel in distress or an eye candy. So Vidya did not have much of a reference point to portray the part. But the actress, however, was happily up for the challenge.

“The experience was extremely enriching for me. We did a workshop before the film where we got to spend time with the director and writers. It made us like a team even before we started shooting. We put our best foot forward. I hope that only good things happen to this film," the actress said.

Juhi Chawla's brother Bobby Chawla pases away

Actress Juhi Chawla’s Bobby Chawla, who has been in coma since 2010, passed away at Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai on March 9.

Juhi Chawla took to Twitter to share the sad news.

“This is the perfect screenplay ...look at how my brother timed it ... He gave me the biggest gift of my lifetime ...saw its release ... And went away,” posted Juhi Chawla.

Bobby Chawla was the former CEO of his close friend Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.

Sanjay Dutt completed 'P.K' before going to jail: Rajkumar Hirani

Director Rajkumar Hirani has said that actor Sanjay Dutt had shot for his portions in the upcoming film ‘Peekay’ before going to jail last year to serve his remaining term in the 1993 bomb blast case.

“He has already shot for his portions before he went (to jail),” said Rajkumar Hirani to PTI.

The movie that was earlier scheduled to release in June this year will now be released during December this year.

There have been talks that the release of the movie has been pushed back to December as Aamir Khan, who features in ‘Peekay’ and is also one of its producers, is busy with his TV talk show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ whose second edition went on air last Sunday.

But Rajkumar Hirani cleared the air and insisted the reason for putting off ‘Peekay’ release was because Aamir Khan’s movie that released during Christmas then year. Aamir has had successful Christmas releases--from ‘Ghajini’, ‘3 Idiots’ to last year's ‘Dhoom 3’.

Juhi Chawla glad with 'Gulaab Gang's' release

Actress Juhi Chawla, whose movie ‘Gulaab Gang’ hit the screens today, is glad that her film has overcome the legal hassles and has released as scheduled.

‘Gulaab Gang’ is reportedly based on the life of activist Sampat Pal, who formed the Gulabi Gang, a group of pink sari clad women vigilantes in Uttar Pradesh.

Sampat Pal moved court to stop the release of the film, alleging that it is based on her life and a portion of the movie shows her in bad light.

Following her petition the release of the movie was stayed but the filmmakers appealed in Delhi court regarding the stay.
