'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' leads Filmfare nominations with nine nominations

The nominees for one of the most prestigious Indian awards, The Filmfare Awards, have been finally announced.

While the popular movies like ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela’, ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ have found themselves in the Best Movie category, critically acclaimed movies ‘Lootera’ and ‘The Lunch Box’ failed to make the cut. Even India’s Oscar entry ‘The Good Road’ is missing from the list.

Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, leads the list of most nominated movie by earning nominations in nine categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. Deepika Padukone’s other movies ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela’ and ‘Chennai Express’ have earned seven and six nominations respectively. ‘Aashiqui 2’, ‘Raanjhanaa’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ have six each.

Television actor Siddharth Shukla signs three movie deal with Karan Johar

Television actor Siddharth Shukla, who became a household name for portraying character of Shiv on popular daily ‘Balika Vadhu’, has signed a three-film deal with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

“Siddharth has been signed up for the film. He is a talented actor and a rage in ‘Balika Vadhu’. Dharma Productions plans to continue its professional equation with him," Karan said in a statement.

First of three films is Karan Johar’s eagerly anticipated movie ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’.

Siddharth Shukla confirmed the news and said that he is very excited to be given this opportunity.

Emraan Hashmi's son to undergo chemotherapy sessions abroad

Bollywood actor Emraan Khan’s four year old son Ayan, who was diagnosed with first-stage cancer and underwent a successful surgery for the removal of malignant tumor, is likely to be taken abroad for chemotherapy treatment.

“He is likely to be discharged tomorrow. As the surgery was successful, they are likely to go abroad for treatment for chemotherapy," said a source to PTI.

According to reports cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who had earlier been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left lung and underwent chemotherapy in the US, contacted the actor and gave reference to the actor for his son's treatment abroad.

Sanjay Dutt's parole extended by 30 days

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is out on a month long parole from Pune's Yerawada Jail, has been granted a month’s extension on his parole.

The actor was scheduled to return to jail on January 21 but he applied for extension in his parole citing wife Maanyata's ill-health.

Sanjay Dutt’s wife, Maanyata, has been reportedly has been diagnosed with a tumor in the liver and a suspected heart ailment, was admitted to Global hospital in Mumbai last week.

Earlier Dr Ajay Chaughule, a senior heart and cardio thoracic surgeon and heart and lung transplant surgeon at Global Hospital, had said that she needs to undergo some tests, after which it can be decided whether a surgery is required.

I am apprehensive about how people will react to my negative character in 'Gulaab Gang': Juhi Chawla

Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla, who will be playing a grey character for the first time in ‘Gulaab Gang’, said that she was hesitant to accept the movie initially because she was scared if people would accept her in a negative role.

“When the director narrated me the script, I liked it but felt was he sure of casting me in this role... Has he mistaken me for some other actress? I was scared and worried if I would be able to do this role... Would I be accepted? Later on when I kept reading it (story), I got convinced I could do it... I tried my best," said Juhi Chawla to PTI.

“I did not realize I would be able to play villain on screen. I hope it does well. Before this film, I was never offered a negative role... I am happy this film came my way and I did it,” she added.

Ayushmann Khurrana to star in Tigmanshu Dhulia's ‘Milan Talkies’

According to latest reports, VJ turned actor Ayushmann Khurrana has been approached to play the lead role in Tigmanshu Dhulia's ‘Milan Talkies’.

The reports said that the actor has been signed for the film, to be produced by Ekta Kapoor, and it is expected to go on the floors in a few months.

"The talks are still on but nothing is finalized yet as to whether he will do the film or not," sources close to the actor told PTI.

Earlier the Imran Khan was signed for the movie. But due to the difference that crept between the actor and producer Ekta Kapoor during the promotions of ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara’ the actor decided to walk out of the movie.

I am not working with Aamir Khan: Deepika Padukone

B Town has been rife with reports that Deepika Padukone would be paring up with Aamir Khan in a film to be produced by Excel Entertainment, a production house helmed jointly by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

But Deepika Padukone has denied the reports.

“I would like to do a film with Aamir. There is nothing happening on that front right now. There is no such thing (on doing a film with Excel Entertainment)," Deepika told reporters here last night at the Stardust cover launch event.

But the actress said that Aamir Khan was definitely on her wishlist of actors she wants to work with.

“I am looking forward to work with Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan someday. I am hoping to tick mark that list," she said.

I don't think I will get a chance to work with Madhuri Dixit again: Juhi Chawla

Actress Juhi Chawla, who is sharing screen space with Madhuri Dixit in upcoming movie ‘Gulaab Gang’, said that this will be the first and last time that she works Madhuri Dixit as she doubts that she will get an opportunity to work with Bollywood diva again.

“I think this (Gulaab Gang) was the last chance I got to work with her (Madhuri Dixit) and I don't think we will again get a chance to work together in future,” said Juhi Chawla to IANS.

Both Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla ruled Bollywood in the 90’s but the actresses never came together.

“It happens once in a lifetime when we get such a good script and where we can work together with such dedication. So, I don't imagine that we will again be working (together). That's why the film is exciting for us as actors," said Juhi Chawla.

Juhi Chawla revealed that during their prime in 90’s she did get a few opportunities to work with Madhuri Dixit but she chose to reject the movies due to rivalry.

Bollywood musicians support Abhay Deol's stand against T-Series

Bollywood actor Abhay Deol has received strong support from musicians from Bollywood for his stand against music label T-Series for holding up the music release of his forthcoming film ‘One By Two’.

The actor-producer took and stand for the popular music composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and openly stated that T-Series has stalled the release of the music of his film ‘One By Two’ as the music company wants him to get composers to sign a clause first.

Several Indian musicians have lent their support to Abhay's effort in supporting the popular trio, who has composed the ‘One By Two’ album.
