I look better and thinner now: Parineeti Chopra

Actress Parineeti Chopra said that she might have been overweight during her first movie ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ but now she is thinner has to her strict and rigorous work out regime.

“When I had entered the industry I was big and used to fit into that size category. Now, I feel I am not, as I have lost much more weight and look better. I don't want to be in that weight category... I am working very hard to become thin. I feel I am skinny now,” said Parineeti Chopra to PTI.

Though many actresses today believe in leaner look, few actresses like Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi are comfortable in their skin and don’t mind being a bit ‘overweight’.

“Those actresses are comfortable in what they look like. I used to feel uncomfortable. I am in a visual medium and should be able to compete with every good-looking actress,” said Parineeti.

Salman Khan confused about the response to 'Jai Ho'

Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan is confused with the response to his latest release ‘Jai Ho’.

Though the movie has received mixed to negative reactions from the audience and critics alike, the movie has been doing well at the box-office and has also managed to cross the 100 Crore mark.

“This time we are also confused because the reactions inside the theatres and the collections are not matching up. So it's a very strange thing," said the actor to IANS.

Salman Khan said that the movie’s different subject and political aspect might be the reason that the audience isn’t drawn to theaters like his previous movies.

Jiah Khan's mother requests US FBI to investigate Jiah Khan's death

Bollywood actress Jiah Khan’s death has taken a new turn with Jiah Khan’s mother asking the US to intervene.

Jiah Khan’s mother, Rabiya Khan, has sought help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to aid in the investigation in her daughter’s death case.

The US government's legal attaché at its New Delhi embassy and chief of American Citizen Services Unit at the Mumbai consulate Rosemary Macray have forwarded their appeal to the state Home ministry, seeking approval to involve the FBI and provide forensic and technical assistance to the city police in the case.

On Monday (January 27), Rabiya and her lawyer Dinesh Tiwari were called to the Consulate office at Bandra-Kurla Complex to inform her that they had sought approval from Home Minister RR Patil. The offer to help came after Rabiya wrote a letter to US Ambassador to India Nancy J Powell last October asking for help, as Jiah was an American passport holder.

Deepika padukone too busy to work with Salman Khan

Actress Deepika Padukone, who is currently the most sought after actress after having delivered four blockbuster hits last year, might miss out on an opportunity to star opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's upcoming movie ‘Bade Bhaiya’.

Even though filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is very keen to cast Deepika Padukone in the movie, the actress hasn’t been able to give the director her dates as she has already allotted her dates to Imtiaz Ali’s next movie starring Ranbir Kapoor. Both the movies as scheduled to go floors around the same time.

“Sooraj is very keen to have Deepika on board and so is Salman, but the former wants Deepika to assign 120 days for the film's shoot from June onwards and it doesn't look like she will be able to pull it off as she will be shooting for Imtiaz's film from July to December,” said a source to Mid-Day.

I am not sure I will do 'Shuddhi' anymore: Kareena Kapoor Khan

Actress Kareena Kapoor, who was all set to star opposite Hrithik Roshan in Karan Johar’s home production ‘Shuddhi’, isn’t sure about doing the movie anymore.

“I will decide whether to do it. It will depend on my mood at that time,” said Kareena Kapoor to IANS.

‘Shuddhi’, to be directed by director Karan Malhotra of ‘Agneepath’ fame, was supposed to go on floors sometime last year. But the movie got postponed due to Hrithik Roshan’s health issues and his brain surgery.

“As of now I don't know what is happening regarding that film (Shuddhi) as since one and half years it is being postponed," Kareena said.

Salman Khan's 'Jai Ho' fails to break box-office records

Superstar Salman Khan’s latest release ‘Jai Ho’ has failed to make a huge impact at the box-office. The movie only managed to garner barely over Rs 17 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office.

According to trade analysts in comparisons to Salman Khan’s previous movies ‘Jai Ho’ won’t be creating fireworks and breaking records at the box-office like the actor’s previous movies.

“As per my knowledge, it's less that Rs 17 crore. The figure is quite low," Rajesh Thadani from Multimedia Combines told IANS.

“When 'Ek Tha Tiger' released in 2012, it collected around Rs 30 crore on its opening day," he added.

'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' big winner at Filmfare Awards 2013

Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s biopic ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has emerged as a clear winner at this year’s Filmfare Awards.

The movie won six awards including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor for Farhan Akhtar.

Actress Deepika Padukone, who was the only actor to be nominated twice, won Best Actor Female award for her brilliant performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’.

The movie ‘Lunchbox’, which was the most critically appreciated movie of the year, won Best Film Critics choice.

The 59th Idea Filmfare Awards 2013 was hosted by ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ co-stars Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

Pray for my wife: Sanjay Dutt

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, whose wife Maanyata is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital, visited Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir in Dadar and the holy Sayyed Haji Abdul Rehman Shah Baba Dargah in Dongri to pray for her recovery.

The actor also requested his fans to pray for his wife.

“My wife has a tumor of the liver. There have been many cancer instances in my family. Doctors are investigating. Please pray for my wife. We will follow medical course after the investigation," said Sanjay Dutt.

Earlier this week Maanyata was diagnosed with a tumor in the liver and a suspected heart ailment. She was admitted to Global hospital in Mumbai last week.

Dr Ajay Chaughule, a senior heart and cardio thoracic surgeon and heart and lung transplant surgeon at Global Hospital, had said that she needs to undergo some tests, after which it can be decided whether a surgery is required.
